Google’s Hospitalization Story

Posted under Google The Dog

Google is rather weak now so he can’t tell his story. He is recovering well and should start blogging soon… Meanwhile this is his horrifying story.

Sunday night, 15 June 08, Google took some orange juice and honey water. He had heavy breathing not long after but gradually returned to normal. The following day, Google had no appetite and skipped all his meals for the day.

Come tuesday morning, he ate some chicken porridge, went for his daily walk and seems to be fine. At around 4pm, his eyes became droopy, tired and he sat on the floor with his eyes closed, panting heavily away. I took his temperature and it was 40C! He was running a fever and was so exhausted and weak. When Google’s mummy reached home at 630pm, we took him to the nearest vet immediately.

At 7pm+, Google was at the vet. Temperature was taken, 2 injections given (antibiotics & fever) and nothing else was done. Google’s eyes was still droopy… Vet only mentioned that Google is very tired… His lungs is cleared. Gave us antibiotics & fever tabs and sent us home. Total cost $81.

That night, Google couldn’t sleep at all and we know he is suffering. He stumbled when he walked, and even fell. He couldn’t walk to kitchen to urine and had urined anywhere he is. He panted with every breath… I slept beside him to ensure he is looked after. He managed to lie down at around 2am and started moving again at 4am.. It was a really scary night and the first time we saw Google this sick.

Wednesday morning, Google managed to eat some chicken porridge, walked slowly and panted. Looks like he is recovering… but we were WRONG! At noon, his droopy eyes came back, panted even more. Couldn’t walk anymore… We took him to the vet and arrived at 2pm. It was another Vet on duty and he listened to Google’s lungs. It is not cleared, it is congested. Thus affecting his breathing. I questioned the vet why did the other vet said it was cleared last night yet he was also panting?? Vet couldn’t gave me a satisfactory answer. Placed Google on drip, took his blood for blood test and hospitalized him. He was placed in a small cage as shown here….. it was such a sad sight to witness!

The blood was drawn on Wednesday afternoon and we had to wait till Thursday late morning before the results are out. So for the entire duration, no medication could be given to him. Only the drip helped to clear some toxic in his body to make him feel better and to keep him alive…..

Then came the news when we visited google on Thursday afternoon. His liver were badly infected with readings of 10 times above normal. There were so much toxic in his liver that caused him the pain he is suffering… He was given a prescription diet meant for liver, given antibiotics and anti-inflammation jabs and stayed there till Friday. He was also put on a 6 months liver suppliment known as Hepavite. We pray that it is not permanent damage.

Google is finally back home and recovering very well. He is back to his usual self now, and can whine, greet us when we are home, urinate at the right spot, follow us around the house, and can remember commands we taught him.
